  • STORY

Chrysanthemum flowers are a very old tradition in Chinese medicine, and today, it’s commonly enjoyed in many Asian countries in drinks, cooking, and as medicine. There are several varieties of chrysanthemum, and they can range in color from white to pale or bright yellows. Wuyuan county is well-known for its chrysanthemum fields; their indigenous varietal is winter hardy and yields large, flavorful blooms. These dried whole flower tops are highly recommended for brewing through multiple small steeps. We are excited to be able to share this tea with you thanks to our partners at Hugo Tea Co., a team of tea experts who share our commitment to transparency and high quality sourcing.

    XIAO QI (晓起) FARM
Huang Ying and her husband plant every spring, allowing their flowers plenty of time to form deep & robust root networks, increasing the flower’s capability to survive the winter. Their fields are naturally fertilized and grow through the whole summer, so their autumn harvest enjoys big, beautiful blooms. In the chrysanthemum world, the Ying family is well known for producing these competition-winning flowers.

    TISANES (HERBAL TEA)
Tisane is the French word for herb, and it is commonly used to describe herbal teas. Herbal teas are infusions made from steeped flowers, herbs and other plant materials. Naturally, most tisanes do not contain caffeine; although a few do, such as yaupon and yerba mate. A true tea must be prepared from the Camellia sinensis plant, then processed for a resulting white, yellow, green, oolong, or black tea.
